Tiered order discount
Give a bigger discount on the whole order as the cart subtotal grows, for example 10% off at $100 and 15% off at $200, with Discount Genie.
A tiered order discount takes money off the whole order, and the discount grows as the cart subtotal grows. Use it to nudge customers to add one more item.
Create a tiered order discount #
- In Discount Genie, click Discounts.
- Click the Tiered order card. The Create tier discount form opens.
- Under Method, choose Discount code or Automatic discount, and enter the code or title.
- In the Tier card, choose Percentage or Fixed amount.
- For Tier 1, enter the Cart subtotal value where it starts and the discount the customer gets.
- Click Add tier for each bigger step. Click Remove to delete a tier.
- Click Save.
Example tiers:

The cart value is calculated from the total before discounts, taxes and shipping costs.
Make each tier's discount bigger than the one before it, so customers always gain by adding to their cart.
Choose who and what qualifies #
The same cards as every other discount type sit below the tiers:
- Set a target audience: all customers, or a group of customers.
- Set cart qualifiers: extra conditions the cart must meet.
- Combinations: whether this order discount can apply together with product, order or shipping discounts. See Combine (stack) discounts.
The standard tiered order discount is on every plan. The advanced version and product exclusions need a paid plan.
Show the tiers on your store #
Customers reach a higher tier more often when they can see it. Add the Tiers Table theme block to your store in the Shopify theme editor. See Discount banner for how to add a Discount Genie block.
