Show your discount on your store

Add Discount Genie theme blocks and app embeds in the Shopify theme editor so shoppers see your discount before they reach checkout.

A Discount Genie discount applies in the cart and at checkout as soon as you save it. Your product pages don't change on their own: shoppers see nothing about the discount until you add a Discount Genie block to your theme.

Pick what shoppers should see #

Theme blocks sit inside a section of a page. Pick the one that fits your discount:

App embeds load on every page instead of inside one section:

  • Discount Box: a box where shoppers enter promo codes, with your own error messages.
  • Genie GWP: the gift pop-up and teaser for a gift with purchase.

Theme blocks are included on paid plans.

Add a theme block #

  1. In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store > Themes and click Customize on your theme.
  2. Use the template selector at the top to open the page you want, for example your default product template.
  3. In the section where the block should appear, click Add block.
  4. Open the Apps tab and pick the Discount Genie block, for example Discount Banner.
  5. Fill in the block settings in the right-hand panel.
  6. Click Save.
Tip

Place the block just below the product price, where shoppers look before they add to cart.

Turn on an app embed #

App embeds are off until you turn them on.

  1. In the theme editor, open the App embeds panel.
  2. Turn on Discount Box or Genie GWP.
  3. Set its options and click Save.

Style and limit each block #

Every block lets you:

  • Change its colors, or add your own CSS.
  • Set the time zone for its dates.
  • Show it only on certain products, collections or tags.
  • Show it only to customers with a certain customer tag. The customer must be logged in for this to work.
