Thanks for installing Discount Genie! This page is a quick tour of the Discounts section of the app. The video walks through the same screens.

Discount types #

Discount Genie offers 11 discount types, depending on your plan. The main families are:

  • Product discount: an amount or percentage off the products you choose.
  • Volume discount: a bigger discount the more units of a product the customer buys (quantity breaks).
  • Order discount: a discount on the whole order.
  • Tiered order discount: a bigger order discount as the cart total grows.
  • Buy X Get Y: 5 variations: classic, by volume, by purchase amount, by cart subtotal and bundled pricing.
  • Shipping discount: free or cheaper shipping on all rates or the rates you pick.
  • Gift with purchase: a free gift once the cart total reaches an amount you set.
  • B2B (wholesale): volume, order and tiered discounts for your B2B customers.

Product discounts #

You choose which products a product discount applies to with up to 3 product properties. Each one narrows the products the discount covers.

  • Standard mode: the options you'd expect: specific products, collections and variant titles.
  • Advanced mode (paid plans): adds line item properties, cart attributes and custom prices.

Customer eligibility #

Customer eligibility options are available across all discount types. You can target:

  • All customers
  • Specific customers or segments
  • Customers with a specific email or customer tag

The specific customer and segment options require customers to log in to redeem the discount. To require a login for any discount, turn on Require users to be logged-in.

Cart qualifiers #

Cart qualifiers are conditions the cart must meet before the discount applies, such as a minimum subtotal or a specific product, collection or subscription in the cart. You can add up to 5 per discount. Advanced mode adds options like cart attributes and line item properties.

Tip

A subtotal qualifier checks "greater than", not "greater than or equal to". To start a discount at $500, enter 499.99.

Discount groups #

Discount groups (paid plans) put several scenarios into a single discount. Each scenario has its own conditions and outcome. You drag the scenarios into priority order and choose whether more than one can apply, so one discount code or one automatic discount can handle several different cases.

Volume and tiered order discounts #

  • Volume discount: applies discounts based on product quantity.
  • Tiered order discount: applies discounts to the entire order.

Both support several tiers and the same qualifiers and customer eligibility options described above.

Shipping discounts #

Shipping discounts carry the same level of customization as the other discount types.
